Victoria To Review 2am Lockout
By Annette Shailer
The Victorian Government has revealed it will analyse the results of its three monthlong 2:00am lockout trial before any permanent measures are enforced.
With the lockout trial due to finish on September 2, speculation has mounted that a later 3:00am lockout similar to that in Brisbane will be introduced as a compromise.
Anti-lockout group MelbourneLockedOut spokesperson, Andrew Ranger, warned the 3:00am ‘compromise’ would be a disaster for the Labor party.
“We have a government that is so comfortable in office that they believe they can rule with an iron fist,” he said.
“There is not one shred of proof that lockouts work. We have a large number of signed petitions against the lockout and we will be presenting them to Parliament shortly.”
