VIC Government Fails To Consult Industry
By Annette Shailer
The Association of Liquor Licensees Melbourne (ALLM) has called for greater consultation during the evaluation period into the success of the 2:00am lockout trial.
Concerns have been raised as the ALLM’s written submissions to the government have gone unacknowledged.
Despite reports in the Sunday Age that the ALLM was calling for the resignation of the director of Liquor Licensing it seems consultation is what the association really wants.
ALLM secretary, Brian Frewin, said that despite a lack of response, the industry group will continue to seek meetings with the government at policy making levels.
“We have been attempting an offering to work more closely with the director, ministers and the premier but to date have had no response, despite providing detailed submissions to the government at all levels.”
“The director has attended recent accord meetings and requested feedback from licensees at the accords, but has not requested feedback from the most relevant industry body- that being ALLM.”
