Liquor Packing Company Expands with Aid of Disabled Workers
By Rebecca Harris
A liquor-packing company that provides employment for disabled people has announced the expansion of their bonded warehouse in Sydney.
Operating as a not-for-profit organisation, Civic Industries employs more than 100 people with intellectual disabilities, with much of the work done directly for the liquor industry.
“We currently provide promotional product packing services, under contract, to Pernod Ricard and some smaller breweries,” said Civic Industries business development manager, Steve Hall.
“Because of the increase in demand for outsourcing of rework of liquor, wine and beer lines for specific retail promotions or rework of stocks entering Australia, we’ve just doubled our bonded warehouse area, enabling us to handle 50 to 80 pallet loads within a Bonded facility,” he said.
Civic Industries is a registered charity. The status enables bottlers to declare their investment with the company as part of their ‘Corporate Social Responsibility’ through its active support of the disability workforce in Australia.
