Man Stabbed in Hunter Valley Pub

By Andrew Starke

A man has been charged following a stabbing incident at a Hunter Valley pub on Sunday (Feb 21) morning.

According to police, a man became involved in an altercation with two other men at the hotel in John Street, Singleton at about 2am.

During the incident, the 23-year-old man was allegedly repeatedly kicked by the two men.

He also received deep lacerations to his neck and left arm and a puncture wound to his stomach after being attacked with an unknown implement.

Hotel security staff intervened in the incident and one guard received a minor laceration to his left shoulder and a cut to his left arm.

The two men fled the scene prior to the arrival of police from Hunter Valley Local Area Command.

The injured man was airlifted to Newcastle’s John Hunter Hospital for emergency treatment and he remains in a serious but stable condition.

The security guard was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics.

Following inquiries, detectives arrested a 19-year-old local man at Singleton about 7.30am.

He was taken to Singleton Police Station and charged with affray.

The man was refused bail and is due to appear at Muswellbrook Local Court today.
