Bulmers last night launched its new blackcurrant cider to an industry crowd of 200 at Melbourne's Rooftop Bar.

Comedian Declan Fay hosted the evening, which featured live performances from roaming contortionists, an illusionist and a fire twirler.

Bulmers says the new blackcurrant cider is made using real fermented fruit, and combines a tasty blend of apples and blackcurrants to deliver a refreshingly fruity, crisp taste.

"A light shade of red with a slight purplish hue, Bulmers Blackcurrant has a blackcurrant aroma which overlays the distinct Bulmers style apple cider characters," it says.

Bulmers Blackcurrant is available in 500ml bottles at premium venues and bottle shops nationally, including Dan Murphy's, from this week onwards.

RRP is $6.49 per 500ml bottle. The ABV is 4 percent or 1.6 standard drinks in each 500ml bottle.
