Brown-Forman has announced its new managing director for Australia, New Zealand and Pacific Islands, taking over from long-standing MD Michael McShane.

The company has appointed Marc Satterthwaite into the role; Satterthwaite brings nearly 30 years of experience in sales, marketing and operations with him to the position.

Satterthwaite has held a number of leadership positions, including division director for the US Central States and Canada, director of North America Region sales operations, and as the interim country manager for India. Most recently, he has been in the role of Brown-Forman’s US commercial director’s chief of staff, leveraging his experience in North America and deepening his exposure to the emerging markets of IMEA (India, Middle East and Africa), GTR (Global Travel Retail), and the Caribbean.

Outside of Brown-Forman Satterthwaite has held the position of Chair of the US National Alcohol Beverage Control Association, an industry advisory committee, he is a graduate of both the University of New Orleans where he received his MBA, and of Western Kentucky University where he received his degree in Finance.

While McShane is stepping down from his role as MD of Brown-Forman in this region, Satterthwaite does still have an experienced team reporting to him, including: Arindam Varanasi, marketing director; Andy McNamara, sales director for Australia; Richard Jillings, area director for NZ & PI; Bruce McMullen, business services director ANZPI/SEA;  Emily Glynn, executive assistant; Martin Tuma, finance director ANZPI. Other key resources for Satterthwaite will be Michelle Phipps, HR director for ANZPI/Asia; Tim Wallwork, corporate affairs director & assistant general counsel ANZPI/Asia; Finbar Boyle, travel retail director ANZPI/Asia; and Steven Greenleaf, regional technology director ANZPI/Asia.

Satterthwaite and his wife will be relocating to Sydney in September and will then work with McShane on a role hand over in October.
