Australian Venue Co (AVC) is set to open its latest Darwin venue, when Smith St Social brings new life to what was the old Rorkes.

AVC said the Smith St property has been reborn as “an all-occasions destination,” with a spacious ground floor bistro, function room come dance floor and vast open-air rooftop.

“We are really excited to introduce Smith St Social to Darwin,” said AVC CEO Paul Waterson. “We wanted to create a vibrant space for the local community with a real focus on a quality, simple offering done well.

“This is somewhere for everyone – you can go and sit with friends and family to enjoy a meal in the bistro or say cheers with a few knock-offs after work on the rooftop. We hope you love it.”

The drinks menu offers an extensive list of both craft and mainstream beers alongside a select range of wines from some of Australia’s finest wineries. There is also a range of classic and signature cocktails including a take on the Mojito, Caprioska and Cosmopolitan as well as favourites the Espresso Martini & Aperol Spritz.

Food-wise Executive Chef Christian Abbot has designed a menu that focuses on fresh, quality ingredients.

“It’s all the pub classics you know and love with a touch of worldly flavours,” Abbot said.

“Think stone-baked pizzas with premium steaks from some of our finest beef suppliers, along with your usual suspects like Parma’s and fish and chips.”

Smith St Social opens its doors on Friday 2 August at 10am and to celebrate the venue will hand out 500 free pizzas from 12pm, available on a first come, first serve basis.
