As the weather heats up, offering a larger variety of thirst-crushing cider is a boon to any pub business, as Flying Brick Cider Co’s team can attest.

Established in 2010 on the Bellarine Peninsula and revered as one of the ‘old hands’ in Australian craft cider, Flying Brick Cider Co continues to forge ahead  crafting 100 per cent natural ciders from real Australian apples and pears – no colourings, concentrates, flavourings or sugars.  This is a company whose primary focus is great flavour profiles founded on sustainable principles.

On-premise, its bestsellers are its Original and Pear ciders, but as the weather heats up, Draught is also a popular SKU, as well as a new cider to the range.

“The Pear Cider is so delicate, dry and subtle, nothing beats it on a hot day, poured over crushed ice.   For the adventurous and early adopters on trend with more diverse fruit flavour profiles, the Pachinga and RasPerry should have plenty to boast,” said Lyndsay Sharp, director of marketing, sales and hospitality.

Co-fermented chilli, lime, ginger and pear, the Pachinga is a refreshing summer cider with a cheeky back palate kick, available in a wide variety of formats – including being Flying Brick Cider Co’s only canned cider.

“It’s a fun, lively beverage and we thought it well-suited to the increasingly popular 375mL can format. We crafted a limited run in cans earlier this year and it was received well.  Pachinga will now also be available in 30 L doliums and limited Kegstars.”

Sharp believes that craft cider continues to have a significant place in pub offerings, due to its versatility.

“It very much has its place as an on-premise beverage option for lunch, dinner or cocktail-style function.  Also, with products such as the Flying Brick methode champenoise MC Cider, there are seriously sophisticated, elegant options that stand tall against the best wines.

Alongside beer and wine, cider is also great for food pairing.

“Increasingly, true craft cider is a chef’s focus for great food pairing that transcends way beyond the traditional ‘pork and cider’ platform – even though that’s still a no brainer and delicious!”

Sharp says that publicans can keep craft cider front of mind for patrons by educating and exciting their fron-of-house teams about the quality and origins of Australian craft cider.
