Massive redevelopment planned for Ettamogah Albury

The Ettamogah Group has lodged plans with Albury City Council in southern New South Wales for a substantial redevelopment of Ettamogah Albury.

While the project includes an upgrade to the distinctive pub, that is only a small portion of the plans. The group has worked with architecture firm ClarkeHopkinsClarke to turn the 4.8 hectare Table Top site that the pub is situated on into a hospitality and community hub.

The plans include a refurbished restaurant and bar, re-designed outdoor beer garden, a brewery, and an open space for a moonlight cinema and children’s play area. There are also provisions for future development prospects including short stay accommodation. The complex  will be known as Ettamogah Village.

Also included in the designs is a museum paying homage to the famed Ettamogah concept and Ken Maynard’s cartoons from the 1970s and 80s in The Australasian Post that inspired the design.

“We’re very excited to submit our plan for a location that can be a food and adventure based experience that attracts tourists and locals alike,” stated Ettamogah Group spokesperson, Ian Robertson.

“The idea is to create a unique destination that celebrates the history of Ettamogah Pub and the Ettamogah Mob, while also providing a sophisticated space for the entire family to enjoy.”

Brewery plans

An upgrade of the existing brewery is also a big part of the redesign. A Smartbrew system with six brewing tanks will be set up, as well as canning and kegging facilities so that the beer can be sold at other Ettamogah venues across the country, and to other hotels. The brewery plans also include its own bar, outdoor dining, and function centre.

“We look forward to bringing back the Ettamogah Pub beer  to the market place,” said Leigh O’Brien, managing director of the Ettamogah Group.

“Ettamogah has had its own  beer for more than 20 years, previously canned by XXXX, CUB, Powers and various other brewers. So we are excited to announce  that we are building a fully automated brewery to manufacture cans , bottles and kegs to supply to our own outlets, and also  for exporting and other hotel outlets. The range will include lager, pale ale and mid-strength, and we will also be selling our beer online, along with a range of ciders and ginger beers.”

The Ettamogah Group looks forward to collaborating with Council and other local stakeholders to create a dynamic destination for the greater Albury area.
