The finalists have been named for the Australian Hotels Association NSW (AHA NSW) Best Burger competition, with a dozen pubs set to battle it out for the title.

The winner will be named at the 2018 AHA NSW Awards for Excellence, which will take place at The Star on Tuesday, 20 November. AHA NSW CEO John Whelan said that while the competition is only in its third year it has already become a popular part of the association’s annual awards.

“The pub burger revolution has kicked up a gear – they really have that ‘wow’ factor as one of the most photographed items for social media users in particular,” Whelan said.

“Competition for Best Pub Burger is hot, so pubs are regularly mixing up their range and being creative. The look is increasingly important, but at the end of the day it always comes down to taste.”

Whelan added that the Awards for Excellence were all about honouring the best in the business.

“The Awards are held to recognise the hard work and dedication which goes into running a quality hotel in NSW,” he said.

“Our hotels really do set the standard for innovation and quality service – I wish all finalists the best of luck.”
