Across the globe, COVID-19 has impacted industries & businesses in ways we never imagined. The pandemic has forever changed the way many businesses work and operate, especially within the hospitality industry and new infection control standards now apply to all workplaces.

More than ever we are aware of the importance of proper hygiene practices and the need for extensive understanding of the virus to help prevent the spread of COVID-19 in the workplace. But how can you arm your workers with the knowledge and skills to keep your workplace COVID-Safe?

iTFE has developed a targeted training program addressing viruses and infection control, including COVID-19.

The Unit (“HLTINFCOV001 – Comply with Infection Prevention and Control Policies and Procedures” ) is designed for online, self-paced training or can be delivered via a virtual classroom, or face-to-face (if safe to do so).

The training is fully funded by the Commonwealth and State Governments – the initiative was established to support Australian businesses to re-open safely following the COVID-19 lockdowns and restrictions, to reduce the risk of COVID-19 transmission and to improve consumer confidence that it is safe to re-engage with businesses.

Participants will learn a range of skills, including:

  • Proper hand hygiene practices
  • Effective surface cleaning and use of personal protective equipment
  • Disposal of contaminated waste
  • Hazard identification, control and reporting
  • Appropriate protocols and responses in the event of an incident

The online training is via an easy and engaging interactive platform, but every student is also given a dedicated trainer to help along the way.  Virtual classrooms can be set up to workshop ideas and discuss any sticking points.  Upon completion of the short-course program students attain a Nationally Recognised Statement of Attainment.

iTFE’s Program Manager, Penny Mitchell is managing enrolments for the course, nationally and the nature of way businesses have been attracted to the training has been positive, “From speaking with people around the country, I get the feeling that some states might be thinking ‘What COVID?’ and believe they are over the worst of it.  Now more than ever is not the time to get complacent.  We hope Victoria may serve as an example that the spread of this virus happens quickly and devastatingly, shutting businesses down and creating waves of uncertainty for the future. We all need to arm ourselves with the tools to keep us safe.”
