The reigning Galliano Bartender of the Year, Rob Sloan, has announced he is leaving the Black Pearl bar in Melbourne to join Moet Hennessy as an on-premise account manager.

“After five years at Black Pearl I saw it as a natural progression and a way to stay in an industry I love,” Sloan said.

“My role will be… primarily focusing on the spirits portfolio in Victoria. This will undoubtedly be a steep learning curve but I’m confident that with the team supporting me, I’ll have no problems.”

Sloan has been an active member of the Australian bartending community. Along with winning Galliano Bartender of the Year for 2007, he has worked for Diageo’s Alchemy Program and was a member of the Best Bar Team Award at last year’s Australian Liquor Industry Awards (ALIA).
