The winner of the Australian 2010 Skyy Vodka Global Flair Challenge was announced at the Good Food and Wine Show in Sydney yesterday (Jul 18).

Over three days, Australia’s top flair bartenders impressed the crowd of thousands by throwing bottles and bar tools around with skill and style, culminating in yesterday’s final.

Despite some stiff competition from Andy Lee, Dan Farr and Dennis Gray, it was veteran Jay Jay Karanouh who took out first place.

Host and director of flair bartending company Twisted Liquid, Leeroy Peterson, said that the decision to hold the final at the Good Food and Wine Show was great exposure for flair bartending.

“It was by far the biggest consumer event in Australian flair bartending history. Respect to Skyy vodka for allowing us to put on the competition at the Good Food and Wine Show,” he said.

Karanouh will now fly to Barcelona to compete in the global final in October.
