The second Cocktail Island event, which was due to be held at Sydney's Cockatoo Island over two days in November, has been cancelled.

Pitched as "a unique experience dedicated to cocktails, fine spirits and bar culture" and mainly aimed at consumers, Cocktail Island was scheduled for November 17 and 18.

Last year’s inaugural Cocktail Island proved to be a success, drawing large crowds and a number of key suppliers, and receiving a great deal of praise within the industry.

"Due to some exhibitors not being able to commit due to currently difficult industry conditions, Cocktail Island was not viable for 2012 and we had to make the decision to postpone it for this year," Cocktail Island founder Mike Edkins said in a statement.

"Cocktail Island was very successful in its inaugural year, 2011, and we hope to have the support to bring the festival back in 2013."
