The team behind the Global Bartender Exchange (GBE) have launched a fundraising campaign through Indiegogo to expand the online industry networking platform.

The GBE was launched late last year by two Melbourne bartenders, Fraser Campbell and Hannah Keirl. Since then it has attracted close to 6000 members.

The funds raised by the Indiegogo campaign will go towards completely redesigning the GBE site and the creation of some new digital resources for bartenders.

“We are developing an iPhone app as well as an online app for bartenders and industry professionals around the world  to communicate with on a daily basis about jobs, events and other useful information,” said Campbell.

“To do that at the moment we are looking to raise $20,000 to cover costs so we can really push this and get bartenders around the world involved and really get this project going.”

The GBE team also plans to use some of the funds raised to cover ongoing operating costs, create more awareness of the GBE site through hospitality publications as well as organise more competitions through the site.
