The team behind innovative hospitality crowd funding platform, IconPark, has issued a reminder to the trade that applications for its first season close on January 31.

Applicants endeavoring to take IconPark up on its offer to launch a new bar and restaurant concept in an established East Sydney location need to go to IconPark.com within the next 15 days.

“The application process couldn’t be any easier. Industry people with a great concept to launch simply need to go Iconpark.com and submit an in confidence, initial overview of their idea to us in a couple of hundred words and get us excited about their concept,” said co-founder Dean McEvoy.

Launched in December, IconPark has already received a flood of submissions from the industry. The IconPark team has been running tours of the Sydney venue day and night and will continue to run site inspection and information meetings right up until the January 31 cut off day for season one.

IconPark co-founder Paul Schell said: “It’s amazing how many people just can’t believe that we are offering what we are. Half the calls and meetings we are fielding are to confirm the deal we have put on the table…..that it’s real, that the people in our office are real and that the location is real.”

TheShout can now exclusively confirm that the first season will be totally rent-free, representing an additional $40k to the bottom line for the first season’s early adopting participants.

Schell added: “It’s been amazing to see people’s faces light up when they come down, do a site inspection of our location and see what could be theirs. When we talk them through this whole new way to do business, the reactions have been awesome. We’ve heard it’s already been dubbed Fight Club for the hospitality industry, which is pretty damn cool.”
