Perth bartender Ben Tua has been selected to represent Australia and New Zealand at this year's Bols Around The World contest.

Tua, bar manager at Mechanics’ Institute, will now head to Amsterdam on May 1 to compete against 20 other bartenders from across the globe in the semi-finals.

The twelve bartenders that perform best in the semi finals will be selected to compete in the grand final, which will be held on May 7, with the winner crowned the 2013 Bols World Champion.

The 2013 Bols World Champion will receive an all-expenses paid eight-day trip to four ‘cocktail’ cities of their choice as well as a trip to this year's Tales Of The Cocktail.

The 21 semi-finalists will all be made Bols Brand Ambassadors and will be flown back to Amsterdam on another occasion to partake in training at the Bols Bartending Academy.

The judges for this year’s Bols Around The World 2013 competition are Anistatia Miller, Jared Brown, Hidetsugu Ueno, Jeff ‘Beachbum’ Berry, Ago Perrone and Gabor Onufer.
