Laphroaig's special and limited release 15-year-old expression is now available in Australia.

The new expression has been released as part of the brand's 200th anniversary celebrations. Laphroaig 15 Year Old was originally launched more than 30 years ago, with a lower level of peat and a higher bottling strength of 43 per cent.

The whisky is said to have "a mellow, rounded taste, its briny orchard fruits adding bite and depth, the overall feel rich and smoky".

As part of the 200th anniversary celebrations, Prince Charles visited the distillery last weekend. Laphroaig, owned by Beam Suntory, is the only single malt Scotch whisky to bear a Royal Warrant, a mark of recognition to those who supply goods or services to the Royal Households; it has held the honour for 21 years.

The new expression is now available to retailers throughout Australia, with an RRP of $165.
