Matilda Bay has announced the release of the first new beer to come out of its Port Melbourne brewery.

Itchy Green Pants is a 4.7 per cent ABV cloudy ale that will be available only on tap at selected bars and pubs from this month onwards.

Matilda Bay said the IGP moniker reflects the sweaty attire worn by the company's brewers as they ply their trade.

"It's an Australian ale, it's 100 per cent malt… There's a fruity aroma with an initial maltiness that leads into a creamy mouth feel," the company said.

"Some late-hopped fruity Galaxy and peppery Summer Saaz hops give it a zesty clean finish."
