Snow Beer, the biggest selling beer in the world, is now available to Australian consumers for the first time.

Snow, which is brewed by CR Snow, a joint venture between SABMiller and China Resources Enterprises, is the biggest selling beer in China and has been the world's biggest seller since 2008. Sales of the beer have been concentrated in China, Hong Kong and Korea, but Dan Murphy's has finally brought the beer to Australia, and just in time for Chinese New Year celebrations.

A spokeswoman for Dan Murphy's told TheShout: "Dan Murphy's is proud to bring the world's biggest selling beer brand, Snow, to the Australian market.

"It's clear there has been an appetite for Snow in Australia, with Dan Murphy's receiving multiple requests from customers to bring this brand of beer to stores.

"Dan Murphy's is committed to delivering Australian customers with an unbeatable range of both local and international products and the introduction of Snow beer is testament to this commitment.

"Snow complements the wide range of beer available at Dan Murphy's, including other Chinese brews like Tsingtao.

"We're proud to have Snow on our shelves and look forward to introducing this popular Chinese product to Australian customers."

Described as being a "refreshing and crisp lager" Snow has a low bitterness and a "malty mouth feel". Understandably it is widely considered to be a "perfect accompaniment" to Chinese cuisine, thanks largely to its subtle flavour.

Australia is one of the first markets to import Snow, alongside Hong Kong and Korea and the beer will initially be available at Dan Murphy's stories across the country, as well as online. The spokeswoman for Dan Murphy's told TheShout that the brand will also be rolled out to BWS stores in the coming months.

  1. I find it staggering that the independent channel has asked for this beer consistently now for the last two years. The senior management of CUB, claim there has been no demand for any new international brands as they wish to consolidate what they have! Snow was on the agenda when SAB came to the market, then it was not! Another slap for the Indies and convenient channels……

  2. I agree with Giuseppe, but unless the indies take a stand against the likes of CUB,Lion and the other big producers nothing will change. The time has come for the independent groups to get together and fight as a single entity against the big box boys, our time is running out stop fighting each other for market share and fight as 1!It’s either fight now or just role over and let the big boys take over!

  3. Great news,I’ll let CUB build the product, then hopefully not to long down the track it will begin to flow through the grey import market at $10 a case cheaper. This is why i don’t do bushiness with CUB any longer.

  4. I think I’ll stick to drinking Snow only when I’m back home in Beijing 3-4 times a year in order to get my fix. Great tasying beer but 55 cents AUD for 500ml at my local BJ supermarket.

Just sat down at a restaurant in Glenferry Road Vic and 330ml is $9 AUD.

    Crikey!
