A new addition to the fast growing gin category will be available in Australia from Monday 1 June, with the arrival of Boodles British Gin.

Created in 1845 in an attempt to manufacture a “perfectly balanced London Dry Gin” the brand’s botanical profile is unique, featuring traditional herbs and spices that not found in other gins, including nutmeg, sage and rosemary. Interestingly, there is no citrus element to the spirit, a decision reportedly made by the original distillers because they believed that a “proper” drink would include a mandatory slice of lemon or lime.

Boodles’ importer and distributor, Think Spirits, will be introducing Australian gin fans to the new spirit through the window of the Churchill Martini. The cocktail, made popular by Britain’s legendary Prime Minister Winston Churchill, came about when the statesman was once asked how much vermouth he would like in his martini. Noted for his wit, Churchill responded: “I would like to observe the vermouth from across the room while I drink my martini.”

Patrick Borg, Think Spirits Founder and Managing Director, believes that Boodles is an important addition to the company portfolio, as well as the gin scene in Australia.

“With its heritage and its unique mix of botanicals, we couldn’t be more excited about sharing this very popular gin with Australia,” he says.
