DrinkWise Australia CEO, John Scott has announced he will be departing the organisation in early 2018.

Speaking exclusively to TheShout, Mr Scott said:

”After over 10 years with the organisation as Chief Executive, a non-executive Director and as an external supplier, I believe I have made an enduring contribution to the excellent position DrinkWise finds itself in today.”

“From my early consumer insights work in 2007 that led to the award-winning Kids Absorb Your Drinking parents’ initiative – through to the development of the internationally acclaimed How to Drink Properly campaign, the last five years have seen DrinkWise come to the fore as one of the most innovative and recognised evidenced-based cultural change organisations in the World.’’

“I’m extremely proud of the innovative work that’s been achieved in recent years and it’s testament to both industry leadership and commitment, the Board and DrinkWise team that we can proudly point to a significant body of work that has received national and international recognition.’’

Recent partnerships with leading sporting codes such as the AFL and Cricket Australia to promote the You Won’t Miss a Moment initiative as well as funding significant education programs in Indigenous communities via Red Dust Role Models have contributed to a broader national conversation about responsible alcohol use.

“As a model of effective corporate social responsibility, DrinkWise now presents as a shining light on the important role of industry in contributing to shared value and, by extension, making a clear social impact as witnessed through the greatly improved drinking culture in Australia today – validated by recent AIHW national data.”

An announcement of Mr Scott’s successor is due in early 2018.
