It’s the stereotypical Father’s Day gift – socks – but this year any father gifted a pair is being given the option of trading them in for something a bit more interesting – a shot of Fireball.

The team at Fireball decided enough is enough with the footwear gifts for dad and has teamed up with a number of bars around Australia, which will be home to a Fireball ‘sock-pository’ where dad’s can dump their new socks in exchange for a shot of Fireball.

Fireball’s Senior Brand Manager, Jon Prew, told TheShout: “Gifting your beloved patriarch a pair of new socks is basically the equivalent of saying, “Hey Dad, I love you… but, not as much as Mum.

“How much longer can this cruel injustice go on, we ask? For Mother’s Day, Mum gets a day spa. Or a new handbag. Or high tea in some over-priced city hotel.

“But Dad? No, Dad gets socks. Boring, stupid, unimaginative socks.

“Well, no longer. Here at Fireball Whisky, we’re so jack-shit of socks we’re putting our money where our mouth is.”

Running under the tags ‘For Dads who aren’t boring f***ers’ and ‘Who wants warm feet when you can have Fireballs’, the sock amnesty is running from Father’s Day, on September 1 until September 7 and is only applicable to new socks. Fireball has said its plan is to then turn every donated sock into play-toys for dogs living in shelters and dog homes.

There are currently 12 bars signed up as part of the promotion, and any bar interested in also taking part can contact their local SouthTrade International representative to find out more.
