Eight leading Hunter Valley winemakers are taking to the road next week to host a trade tasting ‘Hunter Gathering’ in both Melbourne and Sydney.

The wineries include Audrey Wilkinson, Brokenwood, David Hook Wines, De Iuliis, Margan, Mount Pleasant, Thomas Wines and Tyrrell’s and they will be showing off what is new from the Hunter.

Speaking about the Gathering, the group said: “On the back of outstanding 2017 and 2018 vintages we’re set to challenge and dispel old perceptions, show where the Hunter is at and where it’s going, at a day-long Hunter Gathering in each city.”

In a bid to show the trade the best of the Hunter, trade guests will be able to reserve a seat at one of three themed round table tastings where an open forum will be led by a self-elected panel, aiming to challenge perceptions of old. Spots are strictly limited and bookings are essential via stickytickets.com.au/huntergathering.

The first session, at 10.30am, will be hosted by Andrew Thomas and Chris Tyrrell and will take ‘a fresh look at Hunter Semillon’; secondly, at 2.30pm, Andrew Margan, Mike de Iuliis and David Hook will host ‘an insight into some cool things coming out of the Hunter’ and finally at 4pm there will be ‘a sneak preview of an outstanding Hunter Shiraz vintage’ by Iain Riggs, Jeff Byrne and Adrian Sparks.

In addition to the round tables there will also be a trade tasting featuring more than 40 of the Hunter’s finest wines, with many of the winemakers in the room, this will run from 3-6pm.

Melbourne’s Hunter Gathering will take place on Wednesday, 31 October from 3-6pm at the Builders Arms, 211 Gertrude. Sydney’s trade can head to Brix Distillers, 350 Bourke Street on Thursday 1 October.

Bookings are essential, so head to the Hunter Gathering bookings website to secure your place.
