Reckon you know your Ardbeg from your Adrmore? Probably. Different regions with different characteristics. But what about picking a Cragganmore from a Craigellachie? Now that’s going to test your nose, knowledge and palate and that’s exactly what the Most Ultimate Whisky Champs is all about.

Well, that and finding a fun way to celebrate the end of the year with your mates while also awakening your competitive side. The Most Ultimate Whisky Champs, is Australia’s largest virtual blind whisky tasting competition, where the organisers do not tell you what you are drinking… you tell them.

Organiser Oliver Maruda from The Whisky List explains: “The concept is super simple. Guess the whiskies, or get close, for a chance to win one of a bunch of prizes including whiskies, the title of Most Ultimate Whisky Champ, and an engraved crystal Glencairn tumbler as your trophy – plus bragging rights.

“You’re welcome to team up with your friends to increase your chances of winning or go it alone to try to keep the prizes for yourself.”

The champs will see those taking part sent a kit of six whiskies and on the night of Tuesday, 15 December you will jump online to join Australia’s first virtual and largest blind whisky tasting competition.

Maruda adds: “Throughout the live tasting, we have an expert panel of whisky gurus, distillers, blenders, bartenders and even drinkers tasting and guessing live with you at home, maybe they get it right, maybe they throw in a couple red herrings. Who cares. We’re here mostly to have fun.

“Bonus prizes will also be awarded for most random or obscure whisky themed guess that makes the live panel laugh or for best Facebook or YouTube comment during livestream.”

“Whoever scores the highest gets instant bragging rights as the Most Ultimate Whisky Champ and the grand prize. There are also a bunch of other great prizes for runner ups.”

The night will see those taking part sample the six whiskies blind and then have 10 minutes per whisky to guess what each is, along with some attributes about each one, such as country, cask type and distillery. Highest score wins and prizes include a bottle of GlenDronach Cask 1993 26yo Cask #392.

You can bring together a team of up to for, its $50 per pack, plus $15 flat rate delivery (up to four packs), with tickets available through The Whisky List.
