The Victorian Commission for Gambling and Liquor Regulation (VCGLR) has new liquor signage available to download on its website, with the regulator reminding licensees and permittees that it longer mails out its new signage.

The Victorian Liquor Control Reform Act 1998, requires licensees and permittees to display certain signage around their licensed premises in a location that is clearly visible to the public. The signage reminds employees and patrons of the Victorian liquor laws relating to underage drinking, intoxication and public safety issues.

The VCGLR said: “The updated signage reflects the 2018-19 penalty amounts in effect from 1 July 2018, and has been updated to include the new look Keypass ID, the Keypass in Digital ID as an accepted form of identification and the back of the Proof of Age card.

“Licensees/permittees can check they have the most recent signage by checking the signage keycodes (located in the bottom left corner) against the keycode on the VCGLR website’s liquor signage page.

“It is important licensees/permittees follow the printing guidelines to ensure they remain compliant in displaying signage. Incorrectly printed signage can carry a fine of more than $800.”

Licensees and permittees have until 1 October 2018 to print and display the updated signage and the VCGLR said that inspectors will be visiting venues from early October to ensure licensees have printed and have on display to the public the updated liquor signage. The regulator said that failure to display up to date signage may lead to enforcement action.

The updated signage, guidelines and keycode information are all available on the VCGLR website.
