The most popular White Claw flavour in the United States, Black Cherry, will be landing in Australia on April 28.

White Claw and Lion said they have received a huge number of requests from Australians to bring the flavour here, with Black Cherry outperforming all other flavours in recent social media polls about which flavour was wanted here.

Anubha Sahasrabuddhe, Lion Consumer and Brand Director, said: “White Claw is truly a global phenomenon; we’ve been overwhelmed at how Australian drinkers have responded since launch.

“We can’t wait to see Black Cherry touch down, and to find out which way Australia will lean on this US cult favourite.”

White Claw is giving a limited number of fans exclusive access to be among the first to try Black Cherry. Bespoke Black Cherry vending machines will house 100 cans only, and will be popping up at the Harbord Hotel Sydney, X-Cargo Brisbane and The Garden Leederville Perth, from 1pm until gone, on Saturday April 24.

The flavour will then be available nationwide for both the on- and off-premise from April 28, for a limited time and until sold out in a four-pack of 330ml cans at an RRP of $23.99.

Hard Seltzer is continuing its strong growth, and after less than 18 months in the Australian market, the hard seltzer category has grown locally to a retail sales value of $37million. There are predictions that at its current trajectory the category will be worth $150m in the next 12 months.

White Claw has been hugely popular since its launch in Australia in October last year, with Lion saying the brand now accounts for one in five seltzer sales in Australia.
