New South Wales liquor retailer Chambers Cellars has roundly dismissed continued industry speculation that the group has been sold.

Speculation that Woolworths Liquor Group had bought the independent's 35 outlets heated up again in recent weeks.

But Chambers Cellars marketing manager Matt McEvoy assured TheShout the retailer is not even on the market.

He attributed the misinformation to the uncharacteristically long lead time given to store managers for a recent group meeting, to ensure they were all available.

"We gave them six weeks notice and they all thought we were going to be sold," McEvoy said.

"The first agenda on the meeting was, 'we haven't sold'."

McEvoy said founder Steve Chambers and son Josh have a "very strong plan for the future" with lots of money already invested in upcoming projects.
