ProWein 2021 will not go ahead as planned on 19-23 March after organisers re-assessed COVID-19 restrictions as well as infections, travel and the legal framework.

In addition last month Germany’s Federal and State Governments maintained their rulings that trade fairs would continue to be banned, however organisers have now said the world’s leading trade fair for wine and spirits will now go ahead again on 27 to 29 March 2022.

Erhard Wienkamp, Managing Director at Messe Düsseldorf GmbH, said: “We have not taken this decision lightly – instead we have very carefully weighed the arguments for and against a trade fair during these dynamic pandemic times in close and in-depth consultation with our partners and exhibitors.

“The decisive factor for us was our exhibitors’ and visitors’ interests.”

He added: “Exhibitors can now focus on the next ProWein dates and gear their preparations to them. With this move we are ensuring the planning security so indispensable to successful business.”

In terms of the other ProWein shows, ProWine China took place last month and next year will take place on 9 to 11 November and will return to the Shanghai New International Expo Center from 9 to 11 November 2021.

The next ProWine Asia will also be renamed – ProWine Hong Kong – and will be staged from 12 to 14 May 2021. ProWine Sao Paulo will be the next event to be held in the ProWein family taking place on 5 to 7 October 2021.

The next ProWine Asia in Singapore will be renamed ProWine Singapore and will feature in the programme again in 2022.
