Peter Gunning has taken up the position of chief operating officer of the Sydney hospitality giant.

Gunning takes over the position from Antony Jones, who has been acting in the role for the past twelve months, since Brett Sergeant left Merivale.

Gunning joins Merivale with over 20 years of experience in senior leadership positions. Most recently, he was the COO and CFO of GenesisCare, Australia’s largest provider of radiation oncology, cardiology and sleep treatments.

Prior to his position at Genesis Care, Gunning was VP and MD of Beam Suntory in Oceania, and VP and regional CFO of Mars Asia Pacific. At Beam Suntory, Gunning led the two 10-year distribution deals for the Australian and New Zealand markets with Coca-Cola Amatil.

The Merivale team welcomed Gunning to the group in a statement, which read:

“We are very excited to announce the commencement of our new Chief Operating Officer, Peter Gunning. Peter's outstanding history in financial, operational and strategic areas will support Merivale's continued growth and expansion and lead us to new opportunities. Welcome to the Merivale family, Peter!”
