Sydney’s Tokonoma was the scene for plenty of monkey business on Monday night (March 28), when Monkey Shoulder whisky made its official launch into the Australian market.

Monkey Shoulder global brand ambassador, Dean Callan, hosted the launch, which saw the brand set the Guinness World Record for the longest unbroken chain of plastic monkeys from Hasbro’s iconic game Barrel of Monkeys, at more than 187.5 metres in length and involving 3500 individual monkeys.

“I have been involved in many exciting, unusual projects with Monkey Shoulder in the past, but nothing quite as unique as this,” said Callan.

“We love to have fun and push the boundaries at Monkey Shoulder as the world record attempt and amazing party would suggest, but for us it’s all in the name of a good time.”

Guests enjoyed a selection of Monkey Shoulder-inspired cocktails created by Callan, paired to exquisite Japanese bites from the Tokonoma kitchen.

Monkey Shoulder is billed as the world’s first triple malt whisky and is distributed in Australia by William Grant & Sons.
