International tequila expert Ruben Aceves will be heading to Australia this August to host a series of master class sessions and industry dinners in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne.

As Casa Herradura’s director of international brand development, Aceves said he hopes to “help consumers clear out all the misconceptions and educate the world about the history, heritage, Mexican authenticity, flavour profile and mixability of tequila”.

Since 2000, Herradura tequila, made from 100 per cent blue agave, has won 13 double gold medals at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition. It is now making inroads in the Australian market.

“Tequila is a spirit that Australians are really starting to embrace and yet there is a lack of awareness about the processes and the history behind it,” said Casa Herradura brand manager, Vaughan Thompson.

“We are hoping that Ruben’s visit will help shine a light on how historically and culturally significant tequila is to Mexico and the world at large.”
