Taltarni launches new flagship wine
Taltarni has launched a new flagship wine, which is created from specially selected 50-year-old vines of Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz on the Estate’s vineyard.
The wine has been created to celebrate Taltarni Vineyards’ 50th anniversary and Taltarni’s Marketing Manager, Sarah Watt, said the wine represents the epitome of the Estate’s quality in terms of both vineyard and winemaking.
“Taltarni Vineyards celebrated 50 years of establishment in 2019,” Watt told TheShout. “To coincide with this celebration we wish to make and release a wine that was the best that our vineyard could produce.
“Taltarni’s The Patron is special due to the 50-year-old vineyards it is grown within, 100 per cent estate grown, with 1t per acre from the best blocks on the vineyard.
“The co-fermentation of the Shiraz and Cabernet is unique technique that elevates this wine plus 60 per cent new oak and extended maceration also contribute to the superb quality of the wine. It has structure and finesse along with drive and concentration and is the true essence of Taltarni Vineyards.”
Watt told TheShout that while there are no plans to extend the range, Taltarni is hoping to make The Patron an annual addition to its portfolio.
“We plan to release this wine annually but it will be based on a vintage by vintage basis,” she said. “The vintage will need to be up to the quality levels that are required for this wine. If it is not up to the right standard we will not release it.”
The Patron, which is described as being “purely and utterly Taltarni” is available from the Taltarni cellar door and website with a $120 RRP.
