The Shout, along with other industry-leading mastheads Australian Hotelier, Bars and Clubs and Hospitality Magazine, is hosting a free webinar titled ‘The Road to Recovery’, which takes place this Wednesday, so don’t miss the chance to register.

Given the tough challenges faced by the hospitality industry and venues in recent months, this webinar aims to offer valuable advice as restrictions in most states and territories begin easing and the recovery begins.


This virtual industry discussion will bring together experts from across Australia’s hospitality sector to give their opinions on the best road to recovery. Leading operators will share their experiences of adapting to the new normal and how the industry can best position itself for a strong recovery.

As the Editor of The Shout and Bars and Clubs, this writer will host a panel discussion featuring Andrew Baturo, Director of Dap & Co in Queensland, Mikey Enright, Director of Barrelhouse Group in New South Wales and from Victoria, Zara Madrusan, Director of Made in the Shade.

With three different businesses in three different states each who handled the lockdown in different ways, this panel will discuss the roadmap to recovery for Australia’s bar scene.

In addition Vanessa Cavasinni, the Editor of Australian Hotelier will chair a roundtable discussion featuring Stephen Hunt, Managing Director of Hunt Hospitality, Jennifer Russell the Group GM of W. Short Hospitality and Andy Mullins, Director of Sand Hill Road.

The third roundtable, hosted by Annabelle Cloros, Editor of Hospitality Magazine will feature Judith Hurley, General Manager at Gerard’s Bistro and Dash Rumble the Co-Owner of Pilot.

As if that wasn’t enough the free webinar will also feature three Q&A discussions to help operators with more information on recovery.

Trish Barry the Managing Director of Mastermind Consulting with give her insights into Digital Marketing for venues post-COVID. Hamish Watts, Co-Founder of Applejack Hospitality will talk about why the group decided to hibernate at the start of lockdown and its journey to reopening.

The third Q&A will see Morgan Kelly, Partner in Restructuring Services at KPMG share his expertise on balancing the books in the middle of a pandemic.

Mullins told Australian Hotelier why he was happy to be part of the webinar and why it’s important to the industry.

“Our industry has never faced such an uncertain future. The key to pulling out of it is to share and communicate our thoughts, ideas, systems and processes so we all get through together. These forums will be critical in how we stabilise and then grow such a key industry for the country,” he said.

The webinar takes place on Wednesday, 15 July it is a free online event, but you must register beforehand to take part.
