Hunter Valley winery, Audrey Wilkinson, has acquired neighbouring winery, Poole’s Rock, following news that Pooles Rock general manager for sales and marketing, Lisa McGuigan, has stepped down from her post.

Both wineries are family-owned, with Audrey Wilkinson general manager, James Agnew set to assume the position of general manager of Poole’s Rock.

Agnew has also confirmed that Poole’s Rock will be retaining its Cockfighter’s Ghost and Poole’s Rock labels under the new management structure.

Poole’s Rock was established by David Clarke in 1988.

A recipient of the Order of Australia, Clarke passed away earlier this year.

“David’s deep commitment to Poole’s Rock and its quality portfolio of wines and his ethics set a benchmark for our industry, one that the Agnew family intends to uphold,” said Agnew.

“My family is honoured to be considered a suitable beneficiary of this enterprise, and we share the Clarke’s passion for fine wine and the Hunter Valley.”

Winemakers Jeff Byrne and Usher Tinkler will continue in their roles at Audrey Wilkinson and Poole’s Rock respectively.
