For the first time in its history, Young Gun of Wine (YGOW) will host a series of virtual events in place of its annual Top 50 tasting events.

Over the course of May YGOW will host seven experiential wine tastings with the Top 50 winemakers of 2020 and other experts. The virtual events will last up to an hour with viewers able to ask questions. Each will also include a session on specific regions including Margaret River, Adelaide Hills and Yarra Valley, as well as a session on topics such as pinot noir, skin contact whites, alternative varieties and pet-nats.

YGOW Founder, Rory Kent said: “We’re taking the content of what was one massive Top 50 winemaker event and breaking it into seven sample sized virtual events. Not only will people be able to engage from the comfort of their homes, across the seven events they’re going to be able to explore more with each winemaker than they would by attempting to meet all 50 winemakers at once.”

To ensure the events are still about wine tasting participants will be able to purchase the wines in advance. YGOW have partnered with leading fine wine retailer Langton’s to curate a selection of mixed six packs and mixed dozen wines, with two wines from the mixed packs featured in each of the topics at the events.

Kent added: “What we’re bringing together is more than a broadcast chat – guests are going to be able to taste along and ask questions, and at each event we’ll be connecting with more than half a dozen winemakers around Australia, and more than 50 across the series, plus some other special guests.”

Tickets to the events are free and are open to everyone from wine novices to accomplished sommeliers and everyone in between. You will need to register online as the broadcasts will be private.
