Mexico’s Patron Spirit Company has appointed Southtrade International as the new distributor of its premium tequila, rum and liqueur products in Australia.

Southtrade replaces Bluesky Beverages, a Sydney distributor that specialises in the distribution of niche and premium-grade spirits. Bluesky could not be reached for comment today.

Southtrade director Tony Stubley refused to comment on how his company won the account, saying only he expected Patron to be a key driver in the coming year.

“We are fortunate to have quickly established a strong relationship with the brand principal and to have their full support to take this unique brand to the position it deserves in this country,” he said.

Southtrade is expecting its first shipment of Patron to arrive from Singapore within the next two weeks. Southtrade also distributes Casa Noble and XXX tequilas in Australia, in addition to various brands from other spirit categories.
