Tooheys New has announced that it has re-signed with the New South Wales State of Origin team to once again become the official beer of the Blues.

The official partnership will be back in place for the 2018 Origin series and comes 27 years after Tooheys first signed on with the Blues.

Tooheys first sponsored the Blues in 1991, one of the team’s first sponsors, and held on to the partnership for 13 years, during which time the Blues scored seven series wins, two draws and only four losses – a record any New South Wales supporter would be delighted to see again.

Ben Slocombe, Marketing Director at Lion said: “Tooheys supported the Blues from the start, we’ve never stopped supporting them really, so it is fantastic to have NSW’s biggest beer back officially with the Blues.”

The deal comes on the back of a strong performance for Tooheys in NSW, with Lion saying it is now the number one beer in the state.

Tooheys New has a long standing relationship with Rugby League in NSW at various levels of the game and is also current partners of five NRL clubs. Lion now has a foot in both State of Origin camps, XXXX is the official beer of the Queensland Maroons.
