Batlow Premium Cider is the debut product of Batlow Brewing Company, which was launched in September 2011 as a partnership between Australia’s most recognised apple brand, Batlow Apples, and two Sydney brothers whose UK experience 5 years ago led them to quit their day jobs to start a cider business. After 18 months of development they launched their boutique cider, which is now being served in some of the country’s leading venues including Australia’s top ranked restaurant, Quay Restaurant, The Winery, North Bondi Italian, Neild Avenue & Shady Pines Saloon.

Batlow’s “minimal intervention” approach to their cider-making ensures there are an average of 3 1/2 Batlow Apples in every bottle with no added sugar or concentrates unlike many other commercial brands. Situated midway between Sydney & Melbourne in the Snowy Mountains region, Batlow is one of the nation’s oldest and most prolific apple growing regions where “apples are the absolute lifeblood of the town” according to the company.

The local outfit had a brief stint in Melbourne last November when it appeared as exclusive cider partner alongside Coopers Beer at Harvest Festival. They sold out of all their kegs and cases at the event and have been “slammed with interest” since. Since then they have been active at other grassroots festivals including Secret Garden where they activated the Batlow Cide Stage cider bar and produced a quirky short film late last year which follows their apple harvest process.

The company says that its “medium sweet” flavor profile was proving to be a hit with cider fans as a differentiated offering to many of the sweeter styles out there and also partners well with a variety of food.
