Byron Bay’s First Gin launches – Brookie’s Byron Dry Gin

08 December, 2016 by

Australia’s newest distillery, Cape Byron Distillery launches its first premium spirit, Brookie’s Byron Dry Gin exclusively available in 2016 via Australian crowd funding platform Pozible (https://pozible.com/project/brookies-byron-dry-gin).

Created by Eddie Brook and one of the worlds most acclaimed Scottish distiller Jim McEwan. Brookie’s captures the unique tastes and flavours of Sub-Tropical New South Wales. The distillery is nestled in the very heart of the Brook family’s macadamia farm and is surrounded by a lush rainforest.

A traditional “dry style” Gin, Brookie’s is a beautifully balanced combination of the finest traditional and local native botanicals, trickle distilled in a custom hand-made Copper Pot Still.

Jim McEwan commented, “We’re bringing a new level of excellence to distillation. When you taste this gin, it tastes pure. You’re tasting a bit of nature, you can taste the salt air, you can taste the fruits and flowers of the rainforest, it has the warmth of the personalities associated with family distillers.”

The seeds of Brookie’s Gin were planted when Eddie first met Jim McEwan, ‘The Cask Whisperer’; Jim is the only distiller in the world to be awarded Master Distiller of the year on three occasions, plus a recent Hall of Fame lifetime achievement award. He truly is a Master of his craft.  Eddie Brook, with over 10 years experience in the spirit industry and 15 years in the food industry, has been mentored and trained by the Master.

Brookie’s is a gin with a strong environmental message. Over the past 30 years the Brook family have planted over 35,000 native trees, mostly sub – tropical rainforest trees. Today the farm is thriving eco system. A percentage of the profits from every bottle sold will support the work of the local Big Scrub Landcare group, whose sole mission is to protect what’s left of a mighty rainforest and to encourage new plantings. “Rainforests are the lungs of the world, we MUST protect and nurture them.”  Commented Martin Brook (Brookie)
