Drinks of the Future
Following on from a successful programme in 2017, Distill Ventures are again searching for new brands in no-alc with one-off investments and mentoring available for founders creating drinks in this space.
From London to New York and stretching far beyond, we’ve watched how innovation from both new and experienced players has grown and shaped the Non Alcoholic drinks category in the last 12 months. Our observations have been that this year, non alc has transformed from a trend into a bonafide category and in talking to producers, entrepreneurs, bartenders and restauranteurs, they’ve confirmed this.
Where this was a growing trend in 2017, 2018 has brought focus and increased maturity to the category while still leaving plenty of space for imagination and innovation from entrepreneurs.
With new products hitting the shelves all the time, customers who are choosing not to drink have never had more options when out and about. Entrepreneurs are entering the space from all angles, bringing with them their unique brand stories around conservation, hometown pride, health & wellness, flavour innovation and many more.
To support this dynamic and ever-expanding category, Distill Ventures is again offering a series of investments and one-to-one mentoring sessions to entrepreneurs working in this growing category.
We’re looking for things like – but not limited to – spirit analogues or fermented beverages such as kombucha, kefir, vinegars and shrubs. In short, drinks that share production processes with alcohol – so think maturation, fermentation, distillation and barrel ageing. These non-alcoholic drinks wouldn’t look or feel out of place in your hand at the bar and the bottling and branding will help them fit comfortable on the back bar among booze.
Those selected will receive a one-time cash investment of £10,000 / $12,000 to use to start or grow their Non-Alcoholic drink brand or idea as well as working time with the Distill Ventures team. Submissions will be accepted from August 1st, 2018 until September 7th.
