The 5th Annual Melbourne International Spirits Competition was held in Melbourne on the 24th and 25th of June, 2018.
We submitted three products from our premium portfolio, U’Luvka Vodka, Bareksten Gin and Bumbu Rum. We are excited to announced that all three premium spirits picked up medals, says Sean Ekanayake, Global Sales Director at Global Beverage Brands.
What would be awesome would be the opportunity to now see these amazing brands in high end bars as well as our Major retail and Independent liquor stores, and provide the Australian consumer with the chance to experience this truly unique spirits portfolio.
Bumbu Rum – GOLD Medal winner in the Rum Category
Bumbu Rum is based on an authentic Caribbean legend, and is hand-crafted in small batches in Barbados. Bumbu uses the finest sugarcane from locally sustainable farms throughout the Caribbean and South America. Distilled using two continuous stills, it is aged up to 15 years in Grade A oak bourbon barrels from Kentucky to create an effortlessly smooth and balanced rum with complexity and depth.
Bareksten Gin – SILVER Medal winner in the Gin Category
Bareksten Gin is a super-premium botanical gin hand-crafted in Norway. Its Nordic, natural and organic ingredients form the basis for its unique flavours. The product represents the essence of Norway, in both taste and character – dark, wild, breathtaking and dramatic while the liquid is romantic and playful. The complexity and the botanicals summon the senses and are deliciously potent. The bottle presentation is dark and mysterious, tying in to the dark woods and mountains of Norway.
U’Luvka Vodka – BRONZE Medal winner in the Vodka Category
U’Luvka Vodka has been meticulously created using the finest Rye, Wheat, Barley and Oats by one of Poland’s foremost modern alchemists. It is carefully distilled three times to ensure strength, purity and smoothness, while retaining character, body and depth of flavour. The result is an outstanding vodka of great heritage and distinction with 80 International Awards to its name. With its unique and signature style bottle, U’Luvka is guaranteed to make a statement on any shelf or bar, and it is perfectly placed within the premium vodka category.
This year’s judging panel included buyers from top retail stores, sommeliers, distributors, and importers from Australia and the greater Asia Pacific Region.
With a panel of judges only made up of trade buyers, the competition ensures that the brands submitted are tasted by the true decision-makers of the beverage industry.
