What started as an alternate and experimental variety for the family winery in 2003 has grown to represent 25% of the family’s total crush. The Richland Pinot Grigio keeps going from strength to strength, the most recent win coming from the Royal Adelaide Wine Show.

Chairman of judges  for the Royal Adelaide Wine show, Michael Brajkovich MW, said the judging team evaluated more than 2,600 wines over four days, and reiterated the claim that the Royal Adelaide Wine Show really is the most prestigious wine show in Australia. “It was an incredible tasting this year,” Mr Brajkovich said. “The Royal Adelaide Wine Show just keeps getting bigger and better.”

This win follows a bag of eighteen medals previously won for former vintages of the Richland Pinot Grigio, seven of these medals have been gold. It is this success which has led the Richland product to becoming the number one selling white wine within the family’s wine portfolio.

“Winning a gold medal for aromatic white wines can be difficult throughout the wine show circuit, our winemakers are continually working with our original Pinot Grigio growers to ensure quality is maintained and I think this achievement highlights the passion involved across  growing and vinifying  this product ” Calabria Family Wines Sales & Marketing Manager, Andrew Calabria

The Richland Pinot Grigio is available in selected independent liquor stores across Australia and exported to over 12 different countries.
