St Hallett’s dedication to producing wines from 100% Barossa fruit is showcased in its Gamekeeper’s wines, a collection of lush, food friendly red wines.

Traditionally a Gamekeeper was employed to protect country estate lands and manage the habitat to suit the abundant game. The St Hallett Gamekeeper’s wines are named in honour of these custodians of the land, with the St Hallett team just as dedicated to the Barossa.

The original Gamekeeper’s Shiraz Grenache is now joined by two new Barossa classics, Shiraz and Shiraz Cabernet.  This trio of wines capture the breadth of the Barossa’s flavours, blending classic varietals which have become synonymous with the region – Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon and Grenache – with an eye to remaining true to the smooth textures and rich, bold flavours much loved by fans of the original ‘Gamekeeper’s’ wine.

According to winemaker Stuart Blackwell, the wines in the series are all about exploring the unique characteristics of each variety and what they bring to the final blend:

“Our Gamekeeper’s wines showcase the best of the Barossa in an approachable, food friendly manner. The Gamekeeper’s Shiraz displays all the vibrancy and fruit brilliance Barossa Shiraz sourced from across the region has been renowned for, while the Gamekeeper’s Shiraz Cabernet and Shiraz Grenache allow us to explore the interplay between different Barossa classics and the unique qualities each provides.”

The Gamekeeper’s Shiraz showcases the lushness of the Barossa’s most iconic variety; juicy plum and cherry flavours combine with a dark chocolate and vanilla framework to create a full bodied but soft, cascading Barossa Shiraz experience.

The Gamekeeper’s Shiraz Cabernet blends the juicy plum and cherry shiraz notes with the blackcurrant and blackberry cabernet sauvignon notes. The inclusion of the cabernet provides a firm structure and the classic minty characteristics which the variety is renowned for. The original Gamekeeper’s red blend, Gamekeeper’s Shiraz Grenache is a fruit forward, shiraz dominant wine with soft tannins and spicy pepper melding with the juicy raspberry flavours of Grenache. A dash of the traditional portugese variety, Touriga Nacional, provides a subtle lift.

All three wines have a recommended retail price of $15.99.
