Online Melbourne bar, pub and club directory, MelbournePubs.com, today launched a national function venues directory called PartyStar, which will feature function rooms from venues in all of Australia’s capital cities. “Australia’s hospitality industry has so many great venues on offer but limited advertising budgets means they’re largely invisible.

PartyStar features high-resolution photos on pubs, bars and clubs. A filtering system allows users to quickly pinpoint venues that fit their geographic area, budget or expected number of guests.
The format was first set up in central Melbourne, where within 24 months nearly one-fifth of all inner-city venues had began to rely on the directory to increase their function bookings. Mr Moeller says the directory is a niche product filling a gaping void in the function landscape.
“We connect those looking to throw a smaller 21st or similar event in a space that fits their wallet and personality,” Mr Moeller said.
“As the recession bites, PartyStar means punters or venues on a tight budget can stop worrying and keep partying.”
Mr Moeller attributes early success to the philosophy of giving all venues a fair go, no matter how small. Venues owners are given a generous free trial period to assess if new business has come their way; those that underperform are given advice on how to improve their presence.
