Ben May, owner of May Hotels (Manly Wharf Hotel, Mr Sippy Double Bay, Mrs Sippy Bali and Burleigh Pavilion) and general manager Justin Tynan (ex-Merivale), recently launched MayTynan Consultancy.

Drawing on their combined 45 years of operating hospitality venues, the duo’s new business will help other operators realise their visions for their own venues, as well as consult on any operational issues.

“MayTynan Consultancy assists with everything from concept to staffing and operations for bars, pubs, and clubs across Australia. We want to provide hospitality operators with expert advice on running a venue,” stated Tynan.

The consultancy’s first project is the opening of the Harbord Diggers Bar, which forms part of the $160 million redevelopment of the Harbord Diggers club in Freshwater, on Sydney’s Northern Beaches. Having worked in the area for 15 years through the operation of the Manly Wharf Hotel, the pair believe they know what the local community are after. MayTynan Consultancy is creating the concept for the bar component of the club, as well as managing staffing and operations ongoing, designing the drinks list, and looking after the entertainment bookings.

“We saw a gap in the market for a highly credentialed hospitality consultancy,” stated May.

“Justin and I understand the business of food and hospitality; we’re excited to bring our combined 45 years’ experience launching and running hugely successful venues to the Harbord Diggers project and others to come.”
